Lamb House
In 2019, three prints by celebrated caricaturist Max Beerbohm, which belonged to Henry James, returned to Lamb House. They were conserved in 2024 and became the inspiration for ‘Captured by Caricature’. The exhibition features a selection of Beerbohm's caricatures of Henry James as well as sketches by William Rothenstein and John Singer Sargent from Lamb House’s own collection. Having met at a dinner party in 1895 Max and James met regularly at the parties of mutual friends for the next fifteen years. ‘Captured by Caricature’ explores their connection, revealing Max’s respect for ‘the Master’ Henry James and James’s delight in Max the writer and caricaturist. On until 25 October 2026 (Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat & Sun) 11am to 5pm Free with admission
