Silicone rubber is a flexible mould-making material that enables you to make a mould of an object or sculpture so that you can reproduce it multiple times in a diverse range of casting materials. You will learn essential mould-making principles and casting skills during this course. This course works well as an introduction or refresher to this versatile material. The course is also an ideal spring-board for more complex mould-making and casting in our ‘Follow on/intermediate’ course. This course will teach you to: - Identify the correct process to cast a small found object or a small sculpture with. - How to prepare objects/sculptures for mould-making. - Identify correct release agents. - Make a solid silicone rubber mould - Make a 2 piece silicone rubber mould with a plaster jacket. - Identify techniques to cast into your mould using plaster or jesmonite.
