The theme of National Poetry Day 2026 is “Wonder.” We have a wonderful new venture to celebrate the joy and value of poetry: a welcoming drop-in café with tea, coffee and cake, open mic readings, and musical interludes. Whether you would like to relax and listen, share a favourite poem, or read your own work, this is a perfect chance to enjoy an uplifting community event and be part of the festival atmosphere. Come along for warmth, inspiration, and a memorable celebration of poetry in all its forms. Shoreham Wordfest regularly brings poetry into the heart of the town with poetry posts at the station and in the community centre, helping words and ideas reach people in everyday places. More poetry will feature on Friday 2 October and throughout the festival, so this is an ideal moment to join in, discover something new, and experience the creativity, connection, and enjoyment that Shoreham Wordfest has to offer.
