Macbeth is one of Shakespeares most renowned plays - the magic, the blood, the prophecy, the madness but the question is: Why? Stephen Johns solo shows explore characters from across Shakespeare's works with performances of speeches and scenes by multiple characters all played by one actor. With the performance punctuated with personable interjections, Stephen John performs parts of the play whilst exploring the influences of legendary myths, the real history of Scotland, the understanding of magic, the reality of spirits and Shakespeares own historical writing context; all to endeavour to discover what makes Macbeth in particular a play for all time. This is the Bowler Crab Theatre Companys 39th Shakespeare production to date and Stephens fifth public one-person tour, having performed in Why Will in 2021 and its restructured successor The Seven Ages of Shakespeare in 2026, along with Shakespeare & Comedy in 2022 and Shakespeare & Christmas in 2025.
