Chichester City Council at 800: Friendships, Freedoms and Functions

The Council House

One-offMon 07 Sep
Former Mayor and current City Councillor Anne Scicluna will continue the story of Chichester City Council from the introduction of Local Government Reorganisation in 1974 to the present day. Her talk will explore the duties and responsibilities of the City Council, as well as the City's twinning initiatives and international friendships. The event will also feature former Town Clerk Rodney Duggua, who retired after a distinguished 51-year career in local government, having served at Portsmouth City Council, Havant Borough Council and Chichester District Council. For the final 25 years of his career, he was Town Clerk of Chichester City Council. Rodney's talk will examine the development and role of the Town Clerk, both nationally and within Chichester. Drawing on his extensive experience, he will share three memorable events from his time at the City Council, offering a fascinating insight into the opportunities and challenges of local government and reinforcing his long-held belief that there is never such a thing as a dull day in a local government career.
