Kate Mosse Autumn: The Story of a Season

Exploring folklore, nature and creativity, Autumn is a love-letter to Sussex and an atmospheric portrait of the autumn season from one of our best-loved writers. Kate Mosse takes us to the Sussex marshlands of her childhood, when they are at their mulchy, misty, golden-hued best. In the reed banks she spots plovers and Goldeneye ducks. Along the sea wall, she glimpses purple sea lavender, Brent geese and curlews, in the oak pond, herons and little egrets. The inspiration for all of Kates writing is place and the stories that come out of the landscape of south-west France, Holland, South Africa and her native Sussex. The founder Director of the Womens Prize for Fiction and the Womens Prize for Non-Fiction, Kate has written 11 novels, is a trustee of the British Library and in 2024, was awarded a CBE for services to literature, women and charity. Kate appeared at the book festival in 2020, online, and we are so pleased to have her back in person for our tenth festival. Her husband Greg and son Felix are completing the Mosse family line-up this year. Steven Gale will be in conversation with Kate. Doors open about 15 minutes before the start time. Booking will open for Sponsors, Benefactors and Friends at 9am on Saturday 15th August. Booking opens to the public at 9am on Saturday 22nd August. Tickets are 14 or 10 for those 24 or under. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
