Join one of our guides for a tour of Cowdray Ruins to learn more about this once great Tudor house. Hear more about this historically important building, the extraordinary people who lived there, and the Tudor Kings & Queens who visited. Discover connections to the gunpowder plot of 1605, explore the 500-year-old, remarkably preserved kitchen of a Tudor nobleman’s grand mansion and hear about the first ‘master chef’, Robert May, who worked there in the 1630’s. Climb the spiral staircase to the tower room, the only room to have survived the fire of 1793 and imagine what it was like to live there in Tudor times. The guided talk will include the front approach to the property, the Tudor kitchen, and the upstairs tower room. Please note, the walk will cover uneven ground and grass so please wear suitable footwear. There is no access to the rest of Cowdray Ruins. Suitable for 8 years of age and upward.
