Suzanne Valadon: Model, Painter, Rebel

Suzanne Valadon (1865-1938) came from poor beginnings. After working as a circus artist, she became a much sought-after artist’s model for great masters like Renoir and Toulouse Lautrec. She would observe the masters and eventually transition from passive muse to a totally self-taught and yet powerful post-impressionist painter in her own right. She subverted the male-dominated Parisian art world and developed her very own uncompromising, bold and shockingly original style. This talk examines her journey and her struggles to reach her goal.
